The Pipe Band

We have members from all over the area in and around Ullapool, Achiltibuie and Coigach, Dundonnell and more. The band currently has over 50 members of all age and ability. Members learn and practice as a band and as solo performers.

Playing in the band

Ullapool and District Junior Pipe Band Playing in the band requires a degree of dedication on the part of the members. Time and practice is spent on techniques and working together as a group. The band competes at competitions throughout the region and Scotland and even attends events such as the 'Festival Interceltic' in Lorient, France.

Also, throughout the summer we play at the ferry car park in Ullapool every Thursday evening and attend events, festivals and functions so it can be quite demanding but hopefully very rewarding.

Individual Players

Band member playing pipesIndividual players are encouraged to learn and practice in their own time. Many members gain certification in their field to high levels and many go on to play professionally as musicians and in bands.

We believe all our band members will tell you that being part of the band is rewarding and enjoyable and offers a skill that is part of our national heritage and envied by many.

If you would like to join the band or become involved see Joining The Band.
